Most people associate a midwife as someone who helps a woman during delivery. What most people don’t realize is that a midwife is very involved in a lot of things prior to delivery. They play a major role prior to delivery which must not be overlooked. So in this article we are going to discover what are the basic things a midwife accomplishes prior to delivery.
Some of the things you look for are the health of the mother. This is important not only for the mother but it will help determine if using a midwife would be wise. Because if they find out that there might be a complication during delivery, they may rule out the possibility of a home delivery.

Children that are Home Schooled can benefit greatly from the summer camping experience. Despite, age, gender, grade level or religious background. Home School Summer Camps provide a special area where children can be independent, and that’s a key part of growing up. Camp counselors model perseverance, listening, teamwork and appreciation of differences. Helping children see successful behavior and away from the family. This in turn brings new found independence in line with your at-home teachings. After all as parents we understand somethings just can’t be taught by us.

Are you wondering why you should send your child to a overnight summer camp in the northwoods of Minnesota? The answer is so simple…its all around you…it’s called NATURE. Over 100 studies of outdoor experiences in wilderness and natural areas show that natural outdoor environments produce positive physiological and psychological responses in humans, including reduced stress and a general feeling of well-being. Our children are still forming themselves from everything around them. Children have not yet fully adapted to the man-made world. Children instinctively feel a sense of continuity with nature when they spend time outdoors, at a Children’s Summer Camp in Minnesota provides an excellent way to get kids back to the natural landscape. Exposure to this variation in environment brings a welcome balance to your child’s development.

Send my child to a Summer Camp in Minnesota? I love my kid! Why would I ever do that? Because kids all over this country are deprived of simple pleasures, unstructured time and the self affirmation of being in Nature. Recent studies show that experiences in the wilderness and time spent in natural outdoor areas produce positive psychological and physiological responses in children. These include but are not limited to reduced stress and a general feeling of well-being. Our modern, increasingly artificial man-made world is not a kind environment for children. Historically, children have naturally felt comfortable being outdoors. Minnesota summer camps are among the best suited anywhere for getting kids safely back to the country and into direct contact with nature.

Sara Button has recently written a story, Black Bear, Loon & Walleye: A Fable from the Northwoods. As Directors of Swift Nature Camp an Environmental Summer Camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, this story holds a special place in our hearts. It is such a good story we put a copy in our camp library for all our staff to share with their children.
